The details..

'Method of Utilizing Radiant Energy' is an invention by Nikola Tesla that describes how certain radiations such as ultra-violet light or cathodic rays possess the property of charging and discharging conductors. In this book, he shares his discovery on how to accumulate electrical energy in a condenser using these radiations. By exposing an insulated metal plate connected to one terminal of a capacitor while making independent means for electricity supply at another terminal, an indefinite accumulation of electrical energy takes place which could manifest itself into powerful discharge useful for operating mechanical or electrical devices.

Tesla emphasizes constructing capacitors with great care since they are generally charged slowly; hence they should withstand high pressures without leaking any perceptible electrification when discharged instantaneously. He recommends mica as dielectric material and insulating armatures carefully so that best results can be obtained from them. The surface area exposed to radiation matters significantly because more significant areas receive more power per unit time under otherwise identical conditions.

The second armature may connect either to any conducting body or object providing required sign electricity through its properties or conditioning, like connecting it either with grounded conductor supplying negative electricity or insulated conductor supporting positive electricity at some height above atmosphere supplying positive charge due to rays conveying positively charged first capacitor-terminal.

This book provides detailed information about utilizing natural sources such as sun-rays along with artificial ones like Roentgen tubes for producing desired streams/rays used for various purposes ranging from operating mechanical contrivances solely by stored energies accumulated in capacitors described hereafter towards other uses too.
